A symptom that many borderlines do not talk about as often is Auditory Hallucinations. About 54% of Borderlines hallucinate, this most often happens when the individual is under acute stress. People with BPD are most likely to hear things, but may also see things, smell things, or feel things on their skin that aren't there. People report feeling bugs crawling on them, smelling cat urine or smoke, or seeing shadow people or even full visual hallucinations, where they think people are at their home. This is very distressing! The first night I ever had an auditory hallucination, scared me to death. I wrote a post on Face Book while I was hallucinating, and I want to share it with you, to get a peek into the mind of someone in acute stress from auditory hallucinations.

This CANT BE REAL! I'm 44 and I've never heard voices. I'm too old to just now get schizophrenia but explain this. Having auditory hallucinations for the past 8 hours, late night. I was sleeping when this happened. It can't be real, can it? Please say something! My husband is in bed next to me, but I hear my son talking in the bathroom. OMG! But every time I get up to look, he's not there! I have got up 20 times! How can this be possible, that I know I hear him, yet I know he's not here at the same time. HOW CAN THOSEBOTH BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME? I know I can't just be hearing voices, because I KNOW THE VOICE! I know my sons voice, and it was him! But he isn't here! OMG! How the hell can I hear him so clearly if he isn't here? I keep asking him to come out, said I needed to see him. How scary. Please come out! He's not coming. God, how can this be real? My husband is talking to me now, but it sounds like he's talking through about 12 pillows, that's how it sounds. I can't hear you! Are you awake? He is. He's saying my son is not here and talking about how I look crazy talking to myself. BUT I CAN STILL HEAR HIM! This can't be real!
